Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 25 saves on 28 shots in a 3-2 home loss to the Hershey Bears at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

The result dropped Blomqvist’s record to 13-6-3 while forwards Vinnie Hinostroza and Radim Zohorna each scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (23-15-5-0). Forward Sam Poulin had a potential game-tying goal waved off with 5.9 seconds left when officials ruled he knocked in an airborne puck with a high stick.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.

Forwards Dillon Hamaliuk and Lukas Svejkovsky each scored two goals for the Wheeling Nailers, who pounded the Reading Royals, 8-2, at Santander Arena in Reading.

The Nailers extended a winning streak to a season-best five games and reached the eight-goal mark for the second consecutive game following an 8-4 road win against the Royals on Friday.

Defenseman Thimo Nickl had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (21-16-1-1) while forwards Cédric Desruisseaux and Tanner Laderoute each contributed two assists.

Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 27 saves on 29 shots and boosted his record to 4-1-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Wednesday, 7:35 p.m.
