Minor league report: Penguins rout Phantoms

Linemates Emil Bemstrom and Boris Katchouk each had a goal and two assists for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who routed the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms, 7-2, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Forwards Corey Andonovski and Marc Johnstone both contributed a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (15-8-1-0) while forward Joona Koppanen offered two assists.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 29 saves on 31 shots, improving his record to 5-4-0.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Hershey Bears on Sunday, 5 p.m.


Two goals by forward Sam Houde lifted the Wheeling Nailers to a 5-2 win against the Toledo Walleye at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Forwards Jack Beck and Atley Calvert each had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (18-4-1-0) while forward Matty De St. Phalle contributed two assists.

Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 34 saves on 26 shots, boosting his record to 11-2-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Kalamazoo Wings on Sunday, 3 p.m.
