Minor league report: Penguins, Sergei Murashov shut out Wolf Pack

Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 34 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-0 win against the Hartford Wolf Pack at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Conn. on Wednesday.

The result was Murashov’s second shutout of the season and boosted his record to 8-2-0.

Forward Avery Hayes had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (18-5-1-0) while forwards Aidan McDonough and Philip Tomasino each contributed a goal.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Providence Bruins on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.


Forward Logan Pietila had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-2 loss to the Reading Royals at Santander Arena in Reading. The result snapped a four-game winning streak for Wheeling (18-4-1-0).

Goaltender Maxim Pavlenko made 24 saves on 27 shots as his record fell to 8-4-0.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Adirondack Thunder on Friday, 7 p.m.
