Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 25 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-0 win against the Charlotte Checkers at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C. on Friday.

It was the first shutout of the season for Murashov who improved his record to 5-0-0.

Forwards Danton Heinen and Ville Koivunen each had a goal and two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton while defenseman Alex Alexeyev and Joona Koppanen both contributed goals.

The Penguins improved to 6-0-0-0 to open the season. The only teams in franchise history with longer winning streaks to start a season were the 2005-06 and 2010-11 squads. Those teams both had nine-game winning streaks.

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the Checkers on Saturday, 6 p.m.
