The latest mock draft from NFL Draft Bible founder Ric Serritella includes two Penn State players being selected in the top 10 — something that hasn’t happened in more than 20 years.
The new draft, posted Monday on Sports Illustrated’s web site, puts linebacker Micah Parsons and defensive end Jayson Oweh near the top of the draft.
Parsons, who opted out of the 2020 season with the Nittany Lions, is projected as the sixth overall pick, going to the Miami Dolphins.
“There are whispers of a potential draft-day slide for Parsons, but Miami sticks to their guns and takes the best defensive player in the draft at a position of need,” Serritella wrote.
The mock draft puts Oweh going to the Dallas Cowboys with the 10th pick.
“Two great players, two for-sure first-round values,” former NFL head coach Jim Mora told SI. “Parsons for sure in the first round. I think they’re both potential Pro Bowl players at the next level.”
The last time Penn State had two players selected in the top 10 of the draft was 2000, when defensive end Courtney Brown (Cleveland Browns) and linebacker LaVar Arrington (Washington Redskins) went with the first two picks.
In 1995, Penn State had three selections in the top 10: running back Ki-Jana Carter (Cincinnati Bengals) at No. 1, quarterback Kerry Collins (Carolina Panthers) at No. 4 and tight end Kyle Brady (New York Jets) at No. 9.
In 1983, running back Curt Warner went third overall to the Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Todd Blackledge went seventh to the Kansas City Chiefs.
By the way, this mock draft shows the Steelers taking Alabama running back Najee Harris with the 24th pick.
