Penguins forward prospect Tanner Howe traded in Western Hockey League

Pittsburgh Penguins forward prospect Tanner Howe was traded within the Western Hockey League (WHL) on Thursday.
A left-handed shot, Howe was dealt by the Regina Pats to the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for forward Keet Fawcett and defenseman Reese Hamilton as well as draft picks in future WHL draft.
Serving as the Pats’ captain for the past two season, Howe (5-foot-11, 182 pounds) has appeared in 10 WHL games this season and scored seven points (six goals, one assist).

An undisclosed injury sidelined him for most of October.
This transaction has no impact on his status with the Penguins, who signed Howe to a three-year entry-level contract with a salary cap hit of $875,000 on July 10. That contract will not begin until he turns professional.
Howe, 18, appeared in one contest this past preseason for the Penguins and did not record a point but had three shots and four penalty minutes.
The Penguins selected Howe in the second round (No. 46 overall) in the NHL Draft this past June.
