The Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed forwards Connor Dewar and Philip Tomasino to one-year contracts.
Dewar’s salary cap hit is $1.1 million and he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent following the completion of this contract. Meanwhile, Tomasino will carry a hit of $1.75 million and is scheduled to become a restricted free agent next offseason.
Both players were unrestricted free agents for a handful of hours on Tuesday after the team declined to extend them qualifying offers as a pending restricted free agents on Monday.
The Penguins acquired Dewar at the trade deadline March 7 in a deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Appearing in 17 games with the Penguins, Dewar scored seven points (four goals, three assists) while averaging 14 minutes, 27 seconds of ice time per contest.

Dewar, who turned 26 on June 26, just completed a one-year contract with a salary cap hit of $1.18 million.
As for Tomasino, the Penguins acquired him in a trade with the Nashville Predators on Nov. 25.
In 50 games with the Penguins, Tomasino scored 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) while averaging 13 minutes, 27 seconds of ice time.

Tomasino, who turns 24 on July 28, just completed a one-year contract with a salary cap hit of $825,000.
Following this transaction, 12 players who finished the 2024-25 season under contract with the Penguins remain unrestricted free agents with regard to their NHL statuses.
