The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will be one of the big winners in a collaboration between the Pittsburgh Penguins and FNB Corp.

For every goal the Pens score in the upcoming season, FNB will donate $200 to the Duquesne-based food bank, the team and FNB Corp. announced Thursday.

The team generally scores more than 200 goals per season, which would give the food bank about $40,000.

The pledge by FNB is part of a previously announced sponsorship deal that makes FNB one of the team’s founding partners. FNB is the official retail and digital banking partner of the Pens and will have an FNB Club section in PPG Paints arena.

The Centre Avenue gate will also be named for FNB, replacing Verizon.

FNB, PPG, Dick’s Sporting Goods, FedEx, Highmark, Peoples and six other companies have founding partnerships with the team.

“Our partnership with the Penguins provides an ideal opportunity for us to give back to fans, customers and the community we share,” FNB Corp. Chairman, President and CEO Vincent J. Delie said in a statement.

The bank will also open an interactive digital center inside the arena at the FNB gate where people can learn more about FNB’s products and take advantage of promotions.

FNB customers can add what’s dubbed the Penguins Power Play Package to their accounts, which includes Pens-branded debit cards and checks and offers for discounts at PensGear stores.

“It’s exciting to work with FNB to deliver these new benefits, including the new Penguins Power Play Package and digital center, as well as their generous donation to the food bank,” Penguins President and CEO David Morehouse said.

The deal comes as FNB is poised to be the anchor of the development of the former Civic Arena site in the Lower Hill District that is led by the Penguins. FNB has committed to build a 24 story, $200 million office tower on the site that will be its headquarters.

In a separate deal announced this week, Pens players will sport the PPG logo on their helmets this season.
