A GetGo Cafe and Market opened inside PPG Paints Arena on Wednesday.

“We are extremely excited to have a GetGo inside a sports venue,” said Rug Phatak, senior director of marketing and chief of staff for GetGo, a brand within the Giant Eagle family.

The market will be located behind Section 116 on the FedEx Level.

There was a soft opening during Monday’s game, awin over the New Jersey Devils. The market was well received, Phatak said.

The market will sell its signature sandwiches. Other choices include chicken tenders, an Angus burger and grilled chicken sandwich. There will be salads and wraps, sandwiches and subs in a grab-and-go section.

The idea to partner came through meetings between the companies during the pandemic last spring.

“We are so happy to have fans back in the stands who can stop in the market during a game,” said Phatak. “We can’t wait until more fans will be allowed in safely.”

Giant Eagle presented a $5,000 check to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. Every year GetGo and Giant Eagle set aside funds to support local charities.
