Penn State lands commitment from highly touted DB Daryus Dixson

Pennlive.Com

After its second major official visit and camp weekend of the summer, Penn State has its first class of 2025 commitment since early May — and it’s a big one.

Cornerback Daryus Dixson, a highly rated four-star according to the 247Sports composite rankings, committed to Penn State on Monday after officially visiting campus over the weekend.

Hailing from Mater Dei High School in California, the 6-foot, 180-pound Dixson became Penn State’s highest-ranked player in the 2025 class, surpassing four-star running back Alvin Henderson. With Dixson’s commitment, the Nittany Lions’ 2025 class is ranked 12th in the country, featuring 14 committed players thus far.

Penn State has not dipped into California for recruits often under coach James Franklin. Since Franklin took over in 2014, the Nittany Lions have welcomed just one other high school prospect from the state: then-four-star safety Koa Farmer in Franklin’s inaugural class.

This past weekend’s activity has already proven productive, with more seemingly on the way for Penn State after a ton of big names were on campus, starting what should be a big summer session in Happy Valley.
