Penn State used its third official visit weekend of the summer for many of its already-committed 2025 prospects, leaving a few spots for top targets the coaching staff hoped would be convinced by the heavy Penn State enthusiasm. It’s already paid off.
Class of 2025 cornerback Jahmir Joseph committed to the Nittany Lions on Monday briefly after he left his official visit. The 6-foot, 172-pound Joseph is a four-star prospect and the No. 5 player in New Jersey, according to the 247Sports composite. He’s likely to stay at corner once he enrolls.
Joseph is the third defensive back to commit to Penn State in this class, joining Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s Xxavier Thomas and Mater Dei’s (Ca.) Daryus Dixson, the top prospect in the 2025 group. He became the fifth-highest-rated prospect in a class that ranked 13th in the nation heading into the day.
Before this weekend’s Happy Valley trip, Joseph took official visits to Stanford and Notre Dame earlier in the summer. He had a visit to South Carolina scheduled for next weekend before committing. Joseph also chose the Nittany Lions over offers from Georgia and Boston College, among others.
Quarterback Bekkem Kritza and running back Alvin Henderson were among the 13 committed prospects headlining Penn State’s weekend visits, with 17 total prospects in attendance. Tight end Andrew Olesh, a high four-star, was one of the top uncommitted targets.
Joseph’s pledge now means Penn State has received at least one commitment from an official visitor in consecutive weekends, as Dixson committed last Monday.
