Pirates activate Isiah Kiner-Falefa from injured list, option Liover Peguero to Triple-A
The Pittsburgh Pirates will soon regain the services of infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday ahead of first pitch in New York vs. the Mets.
In a related roster transaction, fellow infielder Liover Peguero was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Kiner-Falefa, 30, last played April 30 and had been sidelined with a right hamstring strain.
Serving as the Pirates’ starting shortstop for the majority of this season, he was slashing .280/.333/.330 with no homers, three doubles and seven RBIs through 30 games played.
Peguero, 24, had been recalled from Indianapolis on May 2 to offer depth at shortstop in Kiner-Falefa’s absence.
Appearing in four games with the Pirates, he batted .222 in nine at-bats.
At Triple-A, Peguero had played in 24 games, slashing .258/.309/.382 with a home run and 12 RBIs.
