Pirates' Isiah Kiner-Falefa rehabbing with Altoona Curve following trade
Newly acquired infielder/outfielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa will make his debut in the Pirates organization this weekend, although it won’t be in Pittsburgh, as the big-league club hosts the Arizona Diamondbacks for three games at PNC Park.
Instead, the 29-year-old super-utilityman, who plays shortstop, second and third base as well as the outfield, will begin a rehabilitation assignment with the Altoona Curve beginning Friday.
Kiner-Falefa is in the Curve’s lineup Friday vs. the Richmond Flying Squirrels, batting second and playing shortstop.
Acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays on July 30, Kiner-Falefa is recovering from a left knee aliment, having been placed on the injured list by the Blue Jays in early July.
In 82 games for Toronto this year, he is hitting .292 with seven homers and 33 RBIs.
