The Pittsburgh Pirates assigned first baseman Spencer Horwitz and right-hander Dauri Moreta to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday afternoon as part of their injury rehabilitation.
Both players have yet to make their 2025 big-league debuts.
Horwitz, 27, missed all of spring training after undergoing offseason wrist surgery.
On April 27, he was assigned to Double-A Altoona to begin rehabilitation.
Over five games with the Curve, Horwitz batted .125 with one double, two strikeouts and two walks in 16 at-bats. He recorded a .222 on-base percentage and .410 OPS.
Horwitz remains designated to the 10-day injured list.
He continues to work toward debuting for a Pirates club that acquired him via trade from the Guardians on Dec. 10, the same day he was shipped to Cleveland from the Toronto Blue Jays.
In 97 games for Toronto last year, Horwitz slashed .265/.357/.433 with 12 homers and 40 RBIs.
As for Moreta (Tommy John surgery), his rehab assignment commenced April 29 with Low-A Bradenton.
Moreta, 29, made two appearances (one start) with the club, posting an ERA of 0.00 over two innings with a strikeout and two hits allowed.
His last big-league appearance came Oct. 1, 2023.
That season, he was 5-2 with a 3.72 ERA over 55 relief outings for the Pirates, striking out 76 with 24 walks.
Elbow surgery in March of last year wiped out Moreta’s entire 2024 campaign.
