Pitt’s situation at kicker took more shape Sunday when Western Illinois transfer Antonio Chadha announced a commitment to the Panthers.

He follows Samuel Hunsaker, a kicker from Northern Arizona (which, like Western Illinois, competes in the Football Championship Subdivision), who committed to Pitt on Jan. 11.

While the transfer portal window closed Jan. 16, announcements after the fact such as Chadha’s are to be expected, as that deadline applied to student-athletes being entered into the portal by their institutions.

Per reporting by On3, university compliance offices could wait until Wednesday to complete processing of portal submissions.

In other words, at Pitt and across the country, the possibility remains for a few more commitments to trickle in.

Chadha, a Bryn Mawr native who began his college career at Rutgers (2022) and also played at Western Kentucky (2023), joins Pitt following 24 games the past two seasons with the Leathernecks.

Last season, he made 13 of 19 (68%) field goal tries with a long of 53 yards. In 2024, he was 15 of 19 (79%). Both years at Western Illinois, he handled kickoff duties, as well, finishing with 57 touchbacks.

Hunsaker was 11 of 15 (73%) on field goals for NAU last season.

In 2025, Pitt split kickoff and field goal duties between Sam Carpenter and Trey Butkowski, both of whom departed the program via the portal.

Now, the stage appears to be set this spring and beyond for a kicking competition between Chadha and Hunsaker.
