Louisville wide receiver Cataurus Hicks (81) makes a catch over the defense of Jacksonville State cornerback Geimere Latimer (1) in Louisville, Ky., on Sept. 7, 2024.

In his quest to seek upgrades in his wide receiver group, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi has received a pledge to enroll from Cataurus Hicks, who played the past two seasons at Louisville.

And Pitt’s coach, staff and players know him well.

Hicks (5-foot-10, 180 pounds) caught 12 passes for 149 yards in 2024 during his redshirt freshman season at Louisville. His best game was against Pitt on Nov. 23 when he recorded six receptions for 63 yards in Louisville’s 39-7 victory.

Pitt has added three wide receivers from the transfer portal — all from power conferences — since the end of the season, with Hicks joining Deuce Spann (Florida State) and Andy Jean (Florida).

The returning group of wide receivers includes Kenny Johnson, Poppi Williams and C.J. Lee, who combined for 102 receptions, 1,217 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.

Also building optimism in Pitt’s passing game is the return of quarterback Eli Holstein and running back Desmond Reid.

Reid tied Konata Mumpfield for the team lead in receptions (52), good for 579 yards and four touchdowns.
