Florida State transfer Cam Corhen signed with Pitt’s men’s basketball team on April 18, 2024.

When Pitt announced Thursday that 6-foot-10 Florida State transfer Cam Corhen is officially on the Panthers’ roster, coach Jeff Capel appeared eager to add increased scoring punch to the paint area.

“Cam is an explosive athlete with the versatility to face up in the post or play with his back to the basket,” Capel said in a statement. “He showed his ability to put the ball in the basket against us back in March, and we believe he will be a great fit in our system and our culture. He will have an opportunity to make an impact on both ends of the floor with a terrific combination of length, strength and athleticism.”

Corhen, a 225-pound forward, has two seasons of eligibility remaining. He totaled 528 points and 223 rebounds while shooting 58.7% (210 of 358) from the field and 73.5% (100 of 136) from the foul line in 60 games (33 starts) at Florida State.

While playing an average of 21.5 minutes last season, Corhen scored 9.4 points and grabbed 3.9 rebounds. He shot 62.9% (110 of 175) from the field and 67.2% (43 of 64) from the foul line in 28 games (12 starts).

He scored in double figures 14 times with a career-best effort March 5 at Petersen Events Center against Pitt. Corhen scored 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and went 9 of 10 from the foul line. He added eight rebounds, one block and a steal in Florida State’s 88-73 loss to the Panthers. He recorded a career-high 12 rebounds against Georgia Tech and grabbed seven or more rebounds in nine games.

After his high school career at Sunrise Christian (Kan.) Academy, Corhen was ranked No. 94 overall in the class of 2022. He was also a top-125 player in this year’s NCAA transfer portal.

Corhen joins a Pitt post rotation that includes junior Guillermo Diaz Graham (6.7 points per game), redshirt freshman Papa Amadou Kante and incoming freshman Amdy Ndiaye.
