Kent State tight end Justin Holmes (85) works against Central Florida defensive end Josh Celiscar (88), left, during the second half of an NCAA college football game, Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, in Orlando, Fla.

Pitt football landed a commitment from the transfer portal for the second straight day Friday when coach Pat Narduzzi received a pledge from tight end Justin Holmes.

Holmes (6-0, 241), a junior, played 13 games for Marshall last fall and was primarily used as a blocker in the run game. He had one catch for 11 yards. He posted his commitment to X.

He played his first two seasons at Kent State where he saw action in 21 games. In 2023, he caught 20 passes for 188 yards.

Holmes previously played wide receiver and quarterback at Northwest Lehigh High School in Kutztown.

On Thursday, Pitt received a commitment from cornerback Zion Ferguson, a transfer from North Carolina.
