Pitt football coach Pat Narduzzi landed one of the top defensive back prospects in the transfer portal Thursday when freshman Zion Ferguson committed to the Panthers, according to Rivals.

Ferguson was a four-star recruit and Under Armour All-American who had more than 40 scholarship offers while playing one season at Gainesville High School in Georgia.

As a senior, he made 37 tackles and had five interceptions and four pass breakups.

As a junior at Grayson High School in Georgia, he had 38 tackles, three interceptions and two pass breakups.

Also a track and field standout, he ran the 100-meter dash in 11.45 seconds.
