Eight members of the Pitt football team earned preseason recognition Thursday, including two who garnered spots on Phil Steele’s annual preseason All-America first team.

Linebacker Kyle Louis and running back Desmond Reid were honored by Steele, who is one of the most respected voices in college football preview analysis.

Both were picked to Steele’s preseason All-ACC first team, with Reid recognized at running back and punt returner.

In addition, second-team honors went to Pitt center Lyndon Cooper, defensive end Jimmy Scott and linebacker Rasheem Biles. Wide receiver Kenny Johnson and cornerback Rashad Battle were third-team selections.
