PNC Park staged a hot promotion Wednesday to lure fans back after the Pirates dropped their Home Opener on Monday.

Admission to the game on Buc Night was $1. Hot dogs were $1. Fountain drinks were $1 off. What more could a fan want?

Buns.

Organizers apparently miscalculated and ran out of hot dog buns.

Here’s how the fans responded.

Turn that frown upside down.

Perhaps PNC Park hadn’t accounted for people testing their limits.

Aramark, which handles concessions at PNC Park, said in a statement that it didn’t run out of buns.

“We know fans look forward to Dollar Dog Night as much as we do. (Wednesday) night, our team was prepared, but unfortunately we experienced an uncharacteristic lag in restocking some stands during the game,” the company said. “We apologize to those fans who experienced a delay and will be adjusting our operations for future Dollar Dog Nights.”

To cap off a disappointing Buc Night, the Pirates lost the game.
