A pair of players at positions of need who are expected to be selected in the vicinity of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first-round pick were hosted by the team for official draft visits Wednesday.
Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon and North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton were joined by late-round running back prospect Ollie Gordon II as guests of the Steelers at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
The Steelers are expected to consider defensive line and running back during the early portions of the April 24-26 draft. At their current first-round spot, No. 21 overall, both Harmon and/or Hampton are potential targets.

Harmon (6-foot-4, 313 pounds) was a second-team AP All-America selection last season, his first at Oregon after three years at Michigan State. Harmon helped the Ducks to an undefeated regular season and Big Ten title by way of 10 1/2 tackles for loss, five sacks, four batted-down balls and two forced fumbles.
The 6-foot, 221-pound Hampton was a two-time second-team AP All American for North Carolina. He combined for 3,164 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns the past two seasons, averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

After Najee Harris left via free agency, if the Steelers elect to select RB reinforcements in the later rounds, Oklahoma State’s Gordon (6-1, 226) is an option. He led the nation in rushing in 2023 with 1,732 yards while totaling 2,062 yards from scrimmage and 22 touchdowns.
Last season, though, Gordon’s production dropped off significantly: 880 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. Gordon’s size and style could lend him to be more of an early-down complement to incumbent Steelers back Jaylen Warren.
