Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren leaps over the Baltimore Ravens’ Ronald Darby during last year’s meeting between the teams at Acrisure Stadium. Warren is in uniform and playing Sunday against the Ravens despite a back injury suffered earlier this week.

Despite suffering a back injury during the past week that limited him during practices, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jalen Warren played in Sunday’s AFC North showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers’ complementary and third-down back to Najee Harris, Warren was productive in the 18-16 victory. He had 13 touches for 68 yards.

Warren did not practice Thursday and was listed as limited Friday because of a back injury, carrying a “questionable” to play designation into the weekend.

With Warren in uniform, the Steelers made veteran running back Jonathan Ward a healthy scratch. Ward was promoted to the active roster Saturday.

Herbig in, Highsmith out

As had been known all week, outside linebacker Alex Highsmith was designated an inactive Sunday because of an ankle injury suffered late during last week’s win at the Washington Commanders. Highsmith is expected to miss multiple games.

The top backup at his position, though, returned vs. Baltimore. After missing the previous four games because of a hamstring injury, Nick Herbig made an immediate impact Sunday — forcing a fumble by Derrick Henry on Baltimore’s first possession.

Pruitt out

Veteran reserve tight end MyCole Pruitt was not in uniform Sunday because of a knee injury. It was the fifth game the 32-year-old has missed this season.

Veteran offensive lineman Max Scharping was a healthy inactive.

The Steelers made Kyle Allen their No. 3 “emergency” quarterback.

No Maulet

Former Steelers defensive back Arthur Maulet was designated inactive Sunday by Baltimore because of a calf injury. The only Ravens player whose injury status was up in the air headed into Sunday — starting defensive lineman Travis Jones (ankle) — was in uniform against the Steelers.

All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton is playing despite an ankle injury suffered in the Ravens’ most recent game.

Baltimore’s healthy scratches were running back Rasheen Ali, safety Eddie Jackson, center Nick Samac, receiver Devontez Walker and outside linebacker David Ojabo.
