Safety DeShon Elliott returned to Pittsburgh Steelers practice Friday, a day after he sat out a session because of a back injury.
Eliott is expected to be cleared to play in time for Monday night’s home game against the New York Giants. His change in status from “DNP” to “limited” joined defensive tackle Keeanu Benton (calf) getting promoted from a “limited” participant to “full” as the only injury-related change for any Steelers player from Thursday’s injury report.
The Steelers practice once more Saturday, after which the team will assign statuses to play against New York.
Rookie receiver Roman Wilson remains out of practice because of a hamstring injury. Outside linebacker Nick Herbig (hamstring) and center Zach Frazier (ankle) have been ruled out by coach Mike Tomlin.
Safety Damontae Kazee continues as a full participant despite missing the past two games because of an ankle injury, but return man/running back Cordarrelle Patterson remains limited after missing the past three games because of an ankle ailment.
Starting cornerback Donte Jackson has been a full participant all week despite a shoulder injury.
Special-teamer Tyler Matakevich (limited, hamstring) and reserve offensive tackle Dylan Cook (full, foot) remain on injured reserve with stable practice statuses.
