The Pittsburgh Steelers running back room got a little more crowded Tuesday after they signed Greg Bell and John Lovett.
Bell was an undrafted rookie who signed with Detroit after the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent last season on injured reserve and was released July 22. He ran for 1,728 yards and 15 touchdowns over two seasons at San Diego State after he transferred from Nebraska.
Lovett played for the XFL’s Vegas Vipers this past season. He signed with Carolina last year as an undrafted rookie and spent much of the season on the practice squad. He played in nine games at Penn State in 2021, accumulating 177 rushing yards. He started his college career at Baylor, where he had 1,803 yards and 17 touchdowns in 20 starts.
The Steelers also released running back Jason Huntley in a corresponding move. Huntley joined the Steelers via the practice squad after he was part of the Philadelphia Eagles’ final cuts at the end of last year’s preseason. He was never activated for a game in 2022.
The Steelers’ roster is now at 90 players.
