Steelers injury report: Nick Herbig officially back, Jaylen Warren questionable vs. Ravens
After making it through a week of practice unscathed, Nick Herbig is ready to return to game action for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“It was good,” Herbig said of his first full week of work since suffering a hamstring injury during an Oct. 6 game. “I felt awesome.”
Awesome enough to play in Sunday’s AFC North showdown against the Baltimore Ravens?
“Yeah.”
Herbig was given no designation on the injury report, indicating with certainty he will play in Sunday’s 1 p.m. kickoff against Baltimore. The Steelers are without a starter at his position in Alex Highsmith (ankle).
“It will be big,” star edge rusher T.J. Watt said of Herbig’s return. “I know ‘Herb’ has been out for a while. He’s itching to be back. A guy who can obviously rush the passer but stop the run as well, and (with last week’s trade acquisition Preston Smith) in the rotation as well, I feel good about our guys.”
Warren questionable
Running back Jaylen Warren returned to practice Friday but only on a limited basis, and he is listed as questionable to play Sunday. Warren first appeared on the injury report Thursday with a back ailment.
Returner Cordarrelle Patterson is the next man up at running back after Najee Harris, who is playing despite a mild ankle injury.
Also questionable is defensive back Cory Trice, who this week returned to practice but remains on injured reserve. For Trice (hamstring) to play Sunday he would need to be added to the active roster. Trice practiced fully Thursday and Friday.
Pruitt doubtful
Reserve tight end MyCole Pruitt earned a “doubtful” designation and is highly unlikely to play against the Ravens because of a knee injury. Pruitt did not practice all week.
Receiver Van Jefferson (quad) and cornerback Donte Jackson (hamstring) will play Sunday after missing some practice time earlier in the week but practicing fully Friday.
Veteran cornerback C.J. Henderson (neck) is out after missing two days of practice. Henderson has yet to make his Steelers debut.
