Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Calvin Austin III was a full practice participant Friday and has been given the official green light to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Austin entered concussion protocol after absorbing two hard hits during this past Sunday’s Steelers win at the Cincinnati Bengals. Austin did not play in the second half and entered NFL concussion protocol this week, though he was a full practice participant Thursday and Friday.
“I feel good,” Austin said after practice. “Feel great.”
Austin could not confirm whether he suffered a diagnosed concussion.
“I don’t know the technical term,” Austin said, “but I just was listening to the trainers and doctors and what they say so that I can be able to play this week.”
Austin has a touchdown catch in each of the past two games and is tied with backup quarterback Justin Fields for the most touchdowns on the team this season with five.
Adams out, Trice in
Montravius Adams will have to wait another week to return to game action. The veteran defensive tackle remains on injured reserve because of a knee injury suffered in October.
Adams returned to practice last week and was a full participant this Thursday and Friday. The Steelers have to activate him to the 53-man roster before the Dec. 21 game in Baltimore or by rule he is out for the season.
Defensive back Cory Trice also was cleared to play Sunday, a day after he was activated off IR. Trice suffered a hamstring injury in Week 3 and has not played since.
Highsmith back, Pickens questionable
Starting outside linebacker Alex Highsmith practiced fully again and will return to game action after missing three weeks because of an ankle injury.
