It’s not just a new home season kicking off for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sunday marks the first time in almost two years for a full capacity crowd at Heinz Field on Pittsburgh’s North Shore.

Here are some refreshers for fans planning to attend the game at 1 p.m. Sunday, when the Steelers host the Las Vegas Raiders. The regulations are the same for University of Pittsburgh football games.

The pandemic prevented sold-out stadiums in 2020. This season, however, 68,400 black-and-gold faithful are permitted to fill the seats.

According to the Steelers website, guests must have a mobile ticket downloaded to a smartphone and saved to Apple or Google Wallet.

That requires downloading the latest Steelers mobile app here. People who don’t own a smartphone may visit customer service windows on Art Rooney Avenue for assistance.

New this season, fans can use mobile ordering to buy food and drinks by scanning a QR code at locations throughout the stadium.

Cash is not accepted at Heinz Field.

Fans need to pay with a credit or debit card or Apple and Google Pay. There are reverse bank machines that convert cash to credit.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early. Some parking lots will open at 8 a.m.

There is a new, 400-space parking garage called the Champions Garage between Heinz Field and PNC Park. It’s on the corner of West General Robinson Street and Tony Dorsett Drive behind the Hyatt Place Hotel.

Gates open two hours prior to game time.

Regardless of vaccination status, all guests, staff and vendors at Heinz Field will be required to wear a mask while visiting any of the indoor areas.

Guests who refuse to wear a mask will first receive a warning, and second time offenders will be removed from the stadium.

Fans aren’t required to show proof of vaccination to enter Heinz Field

In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unvaccinated fans should wear a mask at all times. It is also recommended that fans, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask when not actively eating or drinking.

All National Football League teams have a bag policy, which means a bag carried into the stadium has to be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC. It can’t be larger that 12-by-6-by-12 inches.

A small clear plastic freezer bag is allowed, as is a purse smaller than 4.5 by 6.5 inches. The only exception is for medically necessary items.

The new Steelers Pro Shop is open and occupies more than 10,000 square feet. It can be accessed from Art Rooney Avenue and inside via the Fedex Great Hall.
