Van Jefferson, Najee Harris join Donte Jackson as Steelers who miss practice
Two starting skill position players joined a starting cornerback among those who sat out Wednesday’s Pittsburgh Steelers practice because of injury.
Running back Najee Harris and receiver Van Jefferson were listed as practice non-participants Wednesday on the injury report. Harris suffered an ankle injury late in this past Sunday’s win at the Washington Commanders, but he returned to finish the game so the ailment is not expected to prevent him from playing in Sunday’s AFC North showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.
Cornerback Donte Jackson did not finish that game because of a hamstring injury that kept him out of practice Wednesday. Jefferson also sat out because of a quadriceps injury.
Despite missing the end of Sunday’s game because of injury, receiver Calvin Austin III was not listed on Wednesday’s injury report. That indicates he practiced fully, and there is no concern for his availability against Baltimore.
Starting outside linebacker Alex Highsmith already has been deemed out for Sunday’s game because of an ankle injury. But the top backup at his position, Nick Herbig, practiced fully Wednesday for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury six weeks ago.
Reserve tight end MyCole Pruitt did not practice because of a knee injury, but that has been a common occurrence for the veteran this season. Pruitt, for example, missed practice last Thursday but played Sunday in Washington.
