Westmoreland County campus clippings: Julie Bolden named UPG's women's basketball coach
Pitt-Greensburg has a new women’s basketball coach.
Julie Bolden will take over the Bobcats after two seasons as an assistant and recruiting director at Division I Dayton.
She also worked as a video coordinator at Hofstra for one year.
An Ohio native, Bolden replaces Darien Lantz, who coached for two seasons and was 26-27.
“I’m incredibly grateful to (athletic director) Jeromy Yetter, and the hiring committee, for believing in my vision for this program,” Bolden said in a statement. “I can’t wait to be a part of the Pitt-Greensburg family and community.”
UPG finished 12-14 last season and played in the ACCC Tournament.
“This is an amazing group of young women with a high ceiling both on and off the court,” she said. “They’re passionate about the game of basketball and continuing to develop into great players and people.”
Bolden said she plans to have the Bobcats play fast.
“I love the high-tempo aspect of getting the ball up the court, finding great shots and bringing energy defensively,” she said. “It’s going to be a great fit with the players we have.”
