Three Seton Hill baseball players were lauded for their outstanding defensive play this season.

Grad students Jack Oberdorf (Greensburg Salem) and Owen Sabol (Norwin), the Griffins’ third baseman and shortstop, and senior catcher Braden Durham were named to the All-American Baseball Coaches Association Atlantic Region Defensive Team.

Seton Hill tied a school record with a .980 fielding percentage.

Oberdorf made the team for a second time.

Durham put together a .993 fielding percentage with only two errors in 277 chances.

Men’s soccer

Pitt: Goalkeeper Cooper Sisson (Penn-Trafford) split from Iowa Western before he ever made a save there, opting instead to transfer closer to home and play Division I soccer at Pitt.

Sisson spent last season playing for the BVB International Academy America in Pittsburgh.

Wrestling

Bucknell: Senior Kurtis Phipps (Norwin) won a championship at 61 kg at the U23 Pan American Championships Saturday in Rionegro, Colombia.

Phipps, who wrestles for Buffalo Valley RTC, went 3-0, collecting a forfeit win over Kevin Carrasco of Panama, a pin in 5 minutes and 5 seconds against Juan Lavat Cortez of Mexico, and a 7-0 decision over William Betancourt of Puerto Rico.

The U.S. won the team title handily with 245 points while claiming nine individual titles.

Phipps qualified for the U.S. team after a runner-up finish at the U23 Freestyle Nationals, where he earned All-American status, earlier this month.

During his most recent college season, Phipps went 28-7 at 133 pounds and finished one win short of All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Championships, where he went 3-2.
