Stats: Albeit with the benefit of extra games while playing for the national champions, Howard ranked among the top six in the country in completion percentage (an Ohio State-record 73.0%), passing touchdowns (35) and passing yards (4,010).

Hometown: Downingtown, Pa.

Tidbits: Howard made at least three starts during five different college seasons, the first four at Kansas State. Made 44 starts overall, including all 16 in Ohio State’s run to the 2024 season national championship. … During the Buckeye’s four playoff games, Howard completed 75.2% of his passes for 1,150 yards, eight touchdown passes and two interceptions. … Over his college career, Howard amassed 9,994 passing yards, 85 passing touchdowns, 1,147 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns. …Was second-team all-Big 12 in 2023 and third-team all-Big Ten in 2024. … Howard’s 48 passing touchdowns are a Kansas State career record. … Howard is the first quarterback the Steelers have drafted since 2022 first-rounder Kenny Pickett. He is the first national championship-winning QB the Steelers drafted since Tennessee’s Tee Martin in 2000. … Led Downingtown West High School to the 2019 PIAA Class 6A semifinals. The District 1 championship that season was the school’s first in 23 years. … Was the Maxwell Football Club’s Pennsylvania Player of the Year. … Howard was one of only four quarterbacks (among the 15 who attended) who agreed to participate in drills at the NFL combine. He did the vertical (31.5 inches) and broad (9 feet, 4 inches) jumps, the 3-cone drill (7.13 seconds) and 20-yard shuttle (4.33 seconds).
