Shown while going through drill during spring workouts, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Scotty Miller was among the inactives for the first time this season during Sunday’s game at the Washington Commanders.

LANDOVER, Md. — In the wake of the team’s trade for Mike Williams this past week, Scotty Miller became an odd man out of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receivers corps.

Miller, a six-year veteran in his first season with the Steelers, was announced as a healthy scratch prior to Sunday’s game at the Washington Commanders. Miller was in the lineup for each of the Steelers’ first eight games.

The Steelers acquired Williams from the New York Jets in exchange for a fifth-round pick at Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline. Williams joins George Pickens, Calvin Austin III and Van Jefferson as the Steelers’ wide receivers group. Also, Ben Skowronek is active against Washington, the first game he will play since Week 2 because of a shoulder injury.

The only Steelers player on the active roster who was not in uniform Sunday was reserve outside linebacker Nick Herbig, who miss a fourth consecutive game because of a shoulder injury.

At his position is another trade acquisition making his team debut: veteran Preston Smith.

The Steelers’ other healthy inactives are cornerback C.J. Henderson and offensive lineman Max Scharping. Kyle Allen is back slotted as the No. 3 “emergency” quarterback. Justin Fields is serving as the backup a week after he was the No. 3 because of a hamstring ailment.
