The Big 12 Conference on Tuesday announced the West Virginia men’s basketball team will not play home games with TCU (Saturday) and Oklahoma State (Jan. 19) because the Mountaineers were not able to meet necessary covid-19 requirements set forth by the conference.

The same issue had already postponed Tuesday’s matchup at No. 2 Baylor.

The WVU athletic department said in a release related to the announcement that it is working with TCU, Oklahoma State and Baylor, along with the Big 12 Conference, to reschedule the games.

The Mountaineers, 9-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play, last played Saturday and suffered a 72-70 loss to fourth-ranked Texas on 3-pointer from Andrew Jones with 1.8 seconds left.

Despite the loss to the Longhorns, the Mountaineers ticked up one spot to No. 13 in the latest poll released Monday.

WVU’s next scheduled game is a Big 12 road contest at Kansas State on Jan. 23 followed by a home conference game against Texas Tech on Jan. 25.
