Erica Davis, a volunteer, and Annie Quinn, executive director of the Jacobs Creek Watershed Association, prepare food for participants at the Mentored Youth Trout Day held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the White Bridge fishing area in Mt. Pleasant Township.

Dozens of youth from the region came to White Bridge in Mt. Pleasant Township on Saturday morning for a Mentored Youth Fishing day.

The event, sponsored by the Jacobs Creek Watershed Association, draws boys and girls to the popular spot for trout fishing. The program is managed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Youth obtain a fishing license at a discounted rate and learn about fishing and being outdoors.

Annie Quinn, executive director of the watershed association, said about 70 boys and girls turned out for the event, joined by family, friends and mentors. The event is designed to foster interest in fishing and bring people out to activities in the watershed.
